Clubhouse has announced a monetization feature for content creators on the platform. The audio chat app partnered with the Stripe service to introduce Payments, a way to send money directly to support your favorite professional.
Paul Davison, the co-founder of Clubhouse, mentioned that the startup wants to focus on direct monetization on creators rather than ads. It will work like this: a user can send a payment on Clubhouse by going to the profile of the creator they want to donate the money to. If the creator has the feature enabled, the user can click “Send Money” and enter an amount.
To date, Payments is only enabled for a small group of speakers for testing. The idea is to extend the feature to other influencers as adjustments are made to the system. In mid-March, the company had opened applications for this monetization program.
