TikTok announced on the 23rd that it is launching its button to dislike comments globally. The company began testing the button in April as a way for users to identify comments they believe are irrelevant or inappropriate.
When using the dislike button on a comment it will not be public and neither will the person who made the comment be notified that what they wrote has been rejected. Nor will anyone be able to see how many times a comment has been “rejected”. You can also undo the dislike by tapping the button again.
“Earlier this year, we began testing a new way for people to identify comments they believe are irrelevant or inappropriate. After some testing, we are rolling it out globally. We created it as a new way to receive feedback directly from our community. This allows us to better identify irrelevant or inappropriate comments, which helps us promote a comments section for genuine and authentic interactions.”.
The company emphasizes that the new button is not a way to report comments and that users should still use the standard process for reporting comments for harassment, hate speech, bullying, etc.
